With winter in full swing, I have been craving tropical flavors that will send warm vibes through my body. The combination of pineapple and mint brought me right to the beach. But not only does this combination taste great, this combo helps promotes digestion!
The nutritional benefits of pineapple are great for improving digestion containing a proteolytic enzyme bromelain which digests foods by breaking down protein. Bromelain also has anti-inflammatory compounds that may help ease arthritis, prevent some types of cancer, atherosclerosis and it may also help to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases due to its ability to inhibit Fibrinogen, the chemical that can cause the abnormal blood clotting that underlies most cardiovascular diseases. Mint, the popular herb has several benefits which include proper digestion and weight loss, relief form nauseam depression, fatigue and headache., treatment of asthmas, memory loss and skin care problems. Mint also soothes stomachs in cases of indigestion or inflammation.
- 1/2 pineapple
- 1 cucumber
- 1 large handful of mint
- 1 in (2.5 cm) piece of fresh ginger root
- Wash all ingredients.
- Remove rind from pineapple. (Optional).
- Add all ingredients through juicer.
- Serve in a glass, top with mint and take yourself to the tropics.
